The Bible says that the disciples and Jesus were on a boat crossing the sea one evening when suddenly a storm arrived. The disciples panicked as they witnessed the strong winds and waves raging on. They were in fear of their lives. In the midst of their fear and panic they remembered who was on the boat with them; Jesus. Jesus, was sleeping. But they went to wake Him up and cried out to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” It says that He woke up, went to rebuke the winds, and told the storm to be still and it died down. He then turned to His disciples and asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

Some Faith is Better Than No Faith

There are several times when Jesus calls His disciples, “Men of little faith.” I like this because it shows me that Jesus is powerful but it also tells me that although His disciples had little faith they still had some faith. That comforts me because a lot of times I feel like my faith is little. The storms around me rage on and I also panic and fear for what’s to come. But the important thing is that it doesn’t matter if we feel like we lack faith. Some faith is better than no faith.

The story about Jesus calming the storm reminds us that no matter how tough life gets, Jesus is still with us, and it’s important that we run to Him. I know it’s hard for some of us to seek God when we’re experiencing hardship. I’ve experienced this feeling. My problems and needs seem so overwhelming that I feel paralyzed. I’m emotionally and mentally drained and I just can’t get myself to go to God. But, we have to remember that we have a God that cares about us. It’s not easy, but the Bible says that what’s impossible for men, is possible with God.

Life is Not Easy but Jesus is Faithful

Life is not easy. Sometimes we find ourselves in storms that take away our peace. But, if God has sealed us with the Holy Spirit, and has promised to be with us all the days of our lives, we have to make an effort to seek Him in the middle of our storms. It’s easy to praise God when everything is going right for us. But how can we praise God when storms are raging against us? The story of Jesus calming the storm lets us know that it is possible to praise Him in the middle of the storm. It also lets us know that if we run to Him, Jesus will calm the storm and give us peace.

I think having peace is something we all desperately desire. Peace of mind and peace in our lives is very important. It allows us to continue moving forward. Storms have a tendency to paralyze us by robbing our peace. But, the Bible says that the peace God gives is a peace the world cannot give. Alcohol, drugs, sex, etc. is all temporal peace. It doesn’t last and it’ll sink us lower into depression and anxiety. But God’s peace is what allows us to worship even when the world around us is seemingly falling apart.

Continue to Fight the Good Fight

Look, I’m not in the perfect place right now. I have problems and situations that are making it tough on me to continue fighting. But, I’d like to believe that even a little bit of faith will get me through these rough times. Not because of who I am or what I’ve done, but because of who God is and what He’s done for me in the past. God has never failed me or you. The Bible says that even though we are unfaithful, He remains faithful. If God did it once, He can surely do it again. The God of yesterday is the same God of today, and forever.

I write on here because it gives me an outlet to express my thoughts and what I’m going through. it’s almost like therapy. But in all reality I started writing because I remember how good God was to me when I needed Him most. I’ve strayed away at times and it has not been a perfect ride. But the more I realize how imperfect I am, the more I can point to God and say, “He’s perfect.” God is good, God is merciful, and I am grateful because I know that in the middle of our storms, He will give us peace again. God is good and I hope that you and I can continue to seek Him no matter what circumstances we go through; good or bad. God bless you!

Mark 4:35-41

On that day, when evening came, He said to them, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd, they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him. And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They became very much afraid and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”

Revival in Christ is my way of spreading the Gospel. Jesus saved me when I didn't have anything to offer Him. Even now, He still has mercy on me. The most I can do is live for Him and share Him with others.
